Int'l visitors branch out to experience traditional cultural in China 2024/4/28 source: International Daily Print

International travelers are increasingly drawn to lesser-known aspects of traditional Chinese culture once limited to the domain of domestic tourists, including traditional dress and culturally themed narrative games.

Recently, the martial arts theme park with Song culture in Kaifeng, central China's Henan Province, has experienced a noticeable increase in international visitors who are interested in Chinese traditional culture.
"This (traditional Chinese costume) is something usually seen in TV dramas, it is fun to wear it and experience it on my own," said Irina, a Russian visitor.
Other visitors have been drawn to the park's offering of murder mystery-style games that build on historical and cultural themes to form an interactive narrative.
"These (Chinese-style) scripted games help me learn more about Chinese culture, so I think they are fun," said Matin, an Iranian.
In Southeast China, Chengjiang Fossil Site in Yunnan Province, Asia's sole fossil World Heritage Site, has also seen an uptick in foreign tourists visiting its museum.
"It was my first time seeing and collecting fossils in person. I was really excited," said a tourist from Thailand.
In a Shanghai theater, a brilliant performance showcasing impressive acrobatics and traditional music from China's Jiangnan region has captivated foreign audiences. The performance director revealed that there has been a significant increase in overseas audience since April, leading them to create a special version of the show for these tourists.
"We've had audiences from almost ten countries tonight. We already have bookings from 28 countries and regions for the second half of the year," said Chen Tao, the performance director.
