China Media Group (CMG) held second rehearsal for the 2024 Spring Festival Gala on Sunday to further fine tune the programs to be put on the grand show on the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

The wide cast of performers gathered at a CMG studio for the rehearsal of the gala, a vibrant and captivating four-hour-long variety featuring singing, dancing, Chinese operas, comedy sketches, crosstalks and other eye-catching entertainment blockbusters.

The four sub-venues of the gala, which are in Liaoning Province's Shenyang City, Hunan Province's Changsha City, Shaanxi Province's Xi'an City, and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Kashgar City, joined the rehearsal with the main venue in Beijing for the first time. The unique stage design and performance of each sub-venue show diversified local customs and increase the festive atmosphere.

The performance at main venue and the sub-venues were connected smoothly during the rehearsal, creating a happy and jubilant festive atmosphere, and drawing warm applauses from the audience.

The gala, also known as "Chunwan," has been broadcast live annually since 1983, and has been taken as a major cultural symbol for the traditional Lunar New Year celebrations in China. This year's event will be aired on Feb. 9, the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
