The iconic "ice city" of Harbin in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province has been sparing no efforts to create signature cultural and tourism products and activities to entertain tourists coming far and wide, which has brought the city huge fame and fortune.

Riding an air-cushion boat on the frozen Songhua River is a popular activity in the city. With high-pressure air, there is a cushion between the boat bottom and the ice surface, allowing passengers to speed across the ice with a speed of up to 65 kilometers per hour, offering tourists a unique experience.
Harbin has made an artificial moon at the Saint Sophia Cathedral, creating a moonrise scenery, and made more than 260 snowmen on the Songhua River.
In a bid to lure tourists, the city has displayed a huge city postcard at different scenic spots for tourists to take photos, and local ice artists create ice engravings on streets.
"This is my first time to see an ice engraving. The Saint Sophia Cathedral is presented in such a vivid way on the paper, and I feel it magical and great," said Liu Xuting, a tourist from southwest China's Guizhou Province.
Harbin also stages colorful parades showcasing traditional Chinese culture, with people dressing in traditional clothing of different dynasties, allowing visitors to experience the cultures of China in different times through online and offline activities.
"The design of Hanfu clothing is mainly inspired by Heilongjiang's features, aiming to let more people to know about Heilongjiang from its culture," said Yue Hui, art director of a culture media company in Harbin.
Diverse kinds of winter tourism products and activities creatively designed by Harbin let visitors feel the special charm of the city, as well as hospitality and enthusiasm of local people.
The Harbin Ice and Snow World, a must-go tourist resort in the city covering an area of 810,000 square meters, has welcomed throngs of tourists since its opening. The park features over 2,000 ice and snow sculptures, marking the largest scale in its history.
"I have felt the enthusiasm of Heilongjiang people. Although it is cold outside, our hearts are steaming with fiery passion," said Tao Zehui, a tourist.
Going outside of the Harbin Ice and Snow World, there are also different kinds of facilities for tourists, such as the time-honored Central Street, a Russian-style pedestrian street in downtown Harbin, and ice houses with frozen fishes.
"Many people on the Internet said that Harbin has won fame and fortune. While I think there is no free lunch. The fame and fortune are built by hardworking from scenic spot staff like me, working tirelessly day after day. It is also the fruit of the hospitality and geniality from all Harbin residents. That's why I believe we should stay the course and keep working assiduously this year," said Teng Yue, host of the Harbin Ice and Snow World.
