Silk Road Expo showcases past, present, future through cultural products, AI 2023/11/24 source: Print

Cultural products that reflect ancient Chinese society are on display alongside modern technological and educational tools at the ongoing seventh Silk Road International Exposition (SRIE) in northwest China.

At the expo, 17 cultural organizations and museums from Shaanxi Province -- a key hub along the historic Silk Road -- showcased thousands of cultural and creative products inspired by cultural relics, much to the delight of curious visitors.

"When I visited museums in the past, the cultural relics were simply displayed inside. I felt distant from them. But these cultural products make us appreciate traditional Chinese culture even more," said Wang, a visitor.

At the Shaanxi Cultural Museum shop exhibit, one young visitor showed off his collection of stamps that commemorate his visits to cultural exhibitions.

"Sometimes the ink stamps are large, and my small notebook can't cover them, so I bring a larger one. If the ink stamps are small, I will use my small notebook," said visitor Hou Baolong.

If cultural products bridge the present and the past, AI technology serves as the link between reality and the future. At the expo, children had the opportunity to control a robot that performs corresponding physical movements based on how the child programs it. Other youngsters learned about aeronautics at a flight simulator exhibit.

"First, they need to be interested in it. Then, I figure out how to help them understand these things well. For that, we need to use these teaching aids," said a booth employee named Zhang Zihao.

The expo would run from Nov. 16 to 20, with over 20 important meetings and forums in the schedule, and six exhibition areas designed to fully showcase the achievements of Chinese enterprises under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
