China Documentary Festival - France Stop has been launched by the China Media Group (CMG), with a documentary telling China story screened in Paris, the headquarter of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Friday.

At the screening, the latest documentary called "Human Carbon Footprint" produced by China Global Television Network (CGTN) was premiered.The documentary tells how Chinese people promote green development and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

More than 400 permanent envoys to UNESCO, diplomats and guests from all walks of life in France attended the event.

"This documentary is essential, it is not only that, but it's timely. It comes in a very important moment, in a moment in which we are discussing very seriously. They need to move forward and to find solutions for the transition, energy transition in the world. We know very well that this is a very difficult process. Each country may do its own different process how to move towards this transition, energy transition. This documentary brings us all the options and all the opportunities that are there because it has explored in different parts of the world, different solutions that are according to each reality. So it's a very good documentary, and I hope that China can reproduce it and everybody can see it also," said Santiago Mourao, president of the 41st UNESCO General Conference.

"We want to take the advantage of UNESCO which is a platform of people-to-people exchanges, and make the voice of China heard, and then we will do a good job in the cause of sustainable development together," said Yang Jin, Chinese ambassador and permanent representative to UNESCO.

The first edition of the China Documentary Festival kicked off on June 21 in Beijing. In the past five months, 102 media and overseas organizations from 60 countries took an active part in the festival.

"CGTN made full use of 'China Documentary Festival', and constantly updated the film list according to the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. The newly added latest feature films and documentaries such as 'Human Carbon Footprint', 'Decoding the Past 10 Years' and 'China Aspirations' made the story of Chinese modernization more vivid, and also had the characteristics of the times and international vision," said Song Jianing, deputy director of CGTN.

The first edition will last to the end of 2022, and new round of global screening will be launched in 2023.
