The 29th Shanghai TV Festival kicked off on Monday, with more programs competing for its iconic Magnolia Awards than in the previous five editions.

The annual event features a series of activities, including forums and broadcasts of candidate programs. It attracts production companies from countries across the globe, covering all sectors of the television industrial chain.
Established in 1986, the Magnolia Awards, one of China's three major awards for television programs, remains the highlight of the event.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday evening.
Works from 57 countries and regions on all five continents have entered the competition, with a total of nearly 1,000 entries, the most in the last five editions.
