Students from a primary school in central China's Hubei Province made special bouquets with vegetables they grow on the campus as gifts for their mothers on Mother's Day, which falls on May 12 this year.

The students of the Bailian Primary School in Laohekou City of Hubei first went to the labor education base of the school to pick ripe vegetables, including garland chrysanthemum, pepper and green onion.
"These vegetables were planted by students from different classes. On Mother's Day, we would like to let the children turn the fruits of their own labor into special and innovative gifts, so that they can learn to feel love and express love while making the gifts," said Wang Shunting, a teacher of the school.
Later, the students took the fresh vegetables to their classroom, where they sorted the vegetables and then made innovative bouquets with bamboo sticks, wrapping papers and scissors under the instruction of their teachers.
"My mom likes mushrooms, so I wrapped shiitake and enoki mushrooms in the bouquet. Hope she loves it," said Yang Weibo, a student.
"My mom is always busy. She has to take care of me and do the chores. I want to send a message to my mom through this vegetable bouquet that I have grown up and can do a lot of things now," said Chen Jiayi, another student.
