Eye-catching folk performances and fiery light shows were held across China to celebrate the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival, which falls on Sunday Feb. 5 this year.

The Lantern Festival, which dates back more than 2,000 years, is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month on the Chinese lunar calendar. It marks the end of the annual Spring Festival celebrations.

In Fuchuan Yao Autonomous Prefecture in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, colorful folk activities including lantern shows and costume parades brought a festive atmosphere to the 600-year-old town.

"The Spring Festival atmosphere in Fuchuan is very nice. I really like it here," said a tourist from Georgia.

The sparks from molten iron splashed around by intrepid performers lit up the night sky in Mangdangshan scenic spot in central China’s Henan Province.

"The molten iron performance is very stirring," said Zhu Xiaoli, a visitor.

A colorful light show at the scenic spot also proved to be the perfect spot for a selfie for many visitors to the festival.
