Smart technologies at CIIE hope to make healthier, greener future 发布日期:2023/11/10 来源:International Daily 打印

High-tech products that aim to create healthier lifestyles and reduce carbon emissions are being showcased at the ongoing sixth China International Import Expo in Shanghai, held from Nov. 5-10.

Several innovations in the spotlight at the event hope to revolutionize the way everyday people track their wellness and keep active, including a body scanner that may help consumers customize their own sportswear to fit their physique, as well as wearable bio-sensors that can track blood glucose levels and analyze energy levels.
"This technology is not about athletes alone, it's all true with normal people as with athletes and sportsmen. I'm just seeing my glucose on the phone, tracking my glucose, tracking my energy. I know what I'm doing, what I will be eating, the way to relax and the way to push," said Eliud Kipchoge, Kenyan marathon runner.
"I think the Chinese market is particularly receptive to new things, and it has high technical requirements. We hope to keep pace with the rest of the world so that any new products released globally can be quickly brought to China," said Zhang Yan, an exhibitor.
Others are presenting new green solutions in response to growing demand for low-carbon products in the country. Cosmetics packaged with replaceable jelly cores, home textiles made from 100 percent recycled fabrics, and recycled sports shoes transformed into eco-friendly seats and tracks are among the concepts being showcased.
"We actively seek solutions through innovation, and on the other hand, we work with partners in various fields to join our forces. This year, our entire logistics center has upgraded. It's called the 'Wind-Solar Integration Smart Logistics Park' and is totally powered by renewable energy," said Dong Wei, another exhibitor.
The expo has even seen a number of collaborative partnerships formulated between the manufacturers, universities and research institutes, promoting low-carbon transformation across the industrial chain through technological innovation.
"Through our cooperation, we in the academics hope to serve and promote the industry to make a difference in the carbon peaking and neutrality goals as well as carbon management, through our development of methods including the formulation of standards and some theoretical research on carbon energy smart management systems," said Lu Xi, Assistant Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University.
