LOS ANGELES, March 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. company Intuitive Machines' lunar lander Athena touched down on the Moon Thursday.

The uncrewed lander landed on the lunar surface at about 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, according to NASA.

Athena launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida last Wednesday.

The mission, codenamed IM-2, marks Intuitive Machines' second robotic flight to the lunar surface.

The mission is a part of NASA's lunar delivery initiative to conduct science and tech on the Moon for the benefit of all.
