The Langyatai Site in Qingdao has been included among the newly-unveiled China’s top ten archeological discoveries of 2025. This is the first time that an archeological project in Qingdao has elbowed its way among China’s top ten archeological discoveries. Hailed as a Chinese archeological achievement in 2025, the Langyatai Site in Qingdao has stood out once more in Chinese archaeological efforts, underscoring the important role played by Qingdao in the formation of Chinese civilization and a unified multi-ethnic country.
Located in the southern part of the West Coast New Area of Qingdao and surrounded by the sea on its three sides, the Langyatai Site in Qingdao, in whose core are sits a mountain with an altitude of 183.4 meters, was an important site where sacrifices were offered to the god in charge of four seasons, a god among eight gods in Shandong province, and Qin Shi Huang and Emperor Wu of Han made their eastern tours. By the end of 2025, a combined total area of 5,500 square meters was excavated, and a number of important findings were made. (Liu Shuo)
