Dunhuang City in northwest China's Gansu Province officially launched 2025-2026 winter-spring off-peak season tourism discount program on Monday, offering half-price admission for renowned local attractions.
Popular attractions, such as the Mogao Grottoes, the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area, the Yadan National Geologic Park, and the Yangguan Pass and Yumen Pass, and will offer discounts during the off-peak season from December 1 this year to March 31 next year to attract more visitors.
The first batch of visitors has already taken advantage of the lower price tickets at the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area.
"We came to Mingsha Mountain because of the half-price tickets. The weather is fantastic, and we caught the sunrise this morning," said a tourist named Ling Guoqi from south China's Guangdong Province.
"I came here today to see the scenery, which is quite different from what we have in the south. It's truly breathtaking," said a tourist named Liu Peng from east China's Jiangxi Province.
Additionally, students and seniors aged 60 to 69 will enjoy further discounts, while seniors aged 70 and above, veterans, and police officers will receive free admission.
Furthermore, the number of open caves at the Mogao Grottoes has increased from eight to ten, with additional caves now accessible to educational groups accompanied by experienced guides.
