DALI -- The continuous and rapid development of China's outdoor sports sector has become a significant driving force for the economic growth of the broader sports industry, according to a report released by the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) on Friday in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The report was released at 2025 China Outdoor Sports Industry Conference, which opened in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, an iconic tourism destination in Yunnan.
The report said by the end of June this year, China has 335,000 outdoor sports-related enterprises and the rapid and continuous development of the outdoor sports sector has become a significant driving force for the economic growth of the sports industry.
"There are more diversified choices of outdoor sports events and products and a wide variety of high-quality outdoor sports routes and themes. The sales of outdoor sports gear are booming, and the domestic brands are performing exceptionally well. Those all demonstrate that the market has been optimistic about the industry's development prospect," said Ai Yu, deputy director of the Sports Economy Department of the GASC.
Meanwhile, China's National Development and Reform Commission release the first batch of destinations for developing high-quality outdoor sports, including 49 locations in Beijing, Zhejiang, and Yunnan.
