WUHAN -- ???????An exciting array of sports events in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, have generated 694 million yuan (97.16 million U.S. dollars) in sports-related consumption since September, up 30 percent year on year.
The final stop of this year's WTA1000 tennis tournament -- the 2025 Wuhan Open -- concluded in Wuhan on Sunday. During the event, the Optics Valley International Tennis Center welcomed a large number of tennis enthusiasts from home and abroad. This nine-day tournament featured multiple Grand Slam champions and showcased over 100 world-class matches, fascinating spectators in the stadium.
In addition to the Wuhan Open, the city hosted 83 sports events of various levels and types around the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period, including 27 major international and domestic competitions.
Leveraging these sports events, Wuhan also launched a series of consumption promotion events, including the Wuhan Open Carnival, and distributed 10-million-yuan worth vouchers for sports-related spending.
The promotional events for sports-related consumption have so far attracted over 1.9 million visits.
