Travelers from all over the world have experienced diverse autumn activities across China during the country's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Oct 1 to 8, with many enjoying themselves in celebratory practices and rushing for Chinese agricultural products in the harvest season.
In Huaying City of southwest China's Sichuan Province, international visitors for the first time tried to pound glutinous rice with a large pole for making traditional "ciba," or glutinous rice cakes. Together with locals, they were immersed in the joyous township celebration of a bumper harvest.
"It's very different from our country. We don't have a holiday like this. So, it's nice to be a part of this, to get the experience something like I have never experienced before," said a Tanzanian tourist.
International visitors in Siqian Village in east China's Jiangxi Province participated in a ceremony to start harvesting, including a lively dragon dance.
A Spanish traveler was so moved by the experience that he learned to speak a famous line from a classic Chinese poem: "Who knows that of our meal in the dish, every grain comes after hard toil?"
Meanwhile, tourists from neighboring Vietnam also passed through customs at the port and came to Hekou Yao Autonomous County in southwest China's Yunnan Province to purchase local agricultural products, such as seasonal green pomelos, fungi, and honey.
"This tea is very special. It has the delicate fragrance of pomelo, which cannot be found in Vietnam," said a visitor from the Southeast Asian country.
