The China-SCO Sci-Tech Innovation Cooperation Center was unveiled in Qingdao on September 4. The unveiling of the Center as one of the key outcomes of the just-concluded SCO Tianjin Summit will bring enormous opportunities for Qingdao to develop the SCO Demonstration Area at a faster pace, step up international sci-tech cooperation and pool more international innovation resources.

The Center will launch high-level sci-tech innovation campaigns on a continual basis, facilitate the construction of international joint labs and joint research and development centers, put in place a technology transfer network, seek in-depth cooperation with technology transfer institutions across SCO member states, set up platforms for transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, improve services in regard to intellectual property, the enabling role of finance and intermediary agents for international technology transfer, and establish international think tanks among SCO member states, and an alliance of think tanks to provide intellectual support for the SCO and offer strategic guidance on national diplomacy.  (Liu Ping)
