Passenger trips across the ferry routes of the "mini three links" between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan surged by 50.4 percent in the first half of 2025, according to official data.

The cross-Strait passenger ferry services operated along four routes -- Xiamen to Kinmen, Quanzhou to Kinmen, Mawei to Matsu and Huangqi to Matsu.

A total of 6,092 voyages were made on the four routes, handling 906,000 passenger trips from January to June, said Fujian Maritime Safety Administration.

The Xiamen-Kinmen route remains the busiest, accounting for 814,000 passengers, a 46.3 percent year-on-year increase.

The passenger trips made between Quanzhou and Kinmen surged by 185.1 percent to 48,000.

The other two routes combined carried 44,000 passengers, marking a 52.7-percent rise year on year.

With the summer peak season underway, Fujian Maritime Safety Administration has updated system to manage the surge in travelers so as to ensure safe and efficient cross-strait travel.
