The “Deep Blue No. 2” large intelligent deep sea aquaculture cage was recently undocked in Qingdao and is expected to be put into operation this March in the Qingdao National Deep Sea Green Aquaculture Pilot Zone.

Funded and constructed by Shandong Deep Sea Green Aquaculture Co., Ltd. affiliated to Shandong Marine Group Ltd., the “Deep Blue No. 2” aquaculture cage, which boasts a total height of 71.5 m, a diameter of 70 m and a designed volume of aquatic water at 90,000 cubic meters in the fully submersible state, is currently China’s most advanced deep sea aquaculture cage equipment featuring the furthest sea area, the deepest water and the largest volume of aquatic water.

Provided with intelligent aquaculture equipment including an automatic feeding system, a measuring system for hydrology, water quality and meteorology, an underwater imaging system, an underwater supplementary lighting system and a biomass monitoring system, the aquaculture cage will gradually help unmanned deep sea aquaculture come to fruition, and promote unmanned and intelligent deep sea aquaculture.  (Li Xunxiang)
