China’s National Development and Reform Commission recently unveiled the first 25 carbon-peaking pilot cities as well as 10 carbon-peaking pilot parks. Qingdao has been included among China’s first batch of carbon-peaking pilot cities.
As required in related planning, the construction of the pilot cities and parks is aimed at helping braking bottlenecks in green and low-carbon development, explores the ways for cities and parks that differ in resource endowment and development foundation and is intended to provide experience and practices that are feasible and transferable in other places of the country.
In recent years, Qingdao has included carbon peaking and carbon neutrality into the overall arrangements for social and economic development, established the “1+N” carbon peaking policy system, launched in a deep-going way energy conservation, carbon emission reduction and energy efficiency improvement in industry, construction, transport and other key sectors with a focus on accelerating the optimization and adjustment in industrial structure and energy mix, and scored good results in respect of promoting the green and low-carbon development philosophy and advancing comprehensively the social and economic transition towards green and low-carbon development.
