Urban renovations, including renewed hill-top parks, smooth transportation and improved human settlement environment, help Qingdao citizens lead better lives. A combined more than 2,000 urban renovation projects of all kinds have began construction in Qingdao since the start of 2022, opening a new chapter for high-quality urban development.
According to statistics, since the launching of the three-year campaign, Qingdao has carried out construction projects on 29 urban trunk roads and made nearly 50 roads open to traffic. The urban renovation campaign has helped improve the capacity of urban governance. Qingdao plans in 2023 to advance 85 urban village renovation projects and to have 473 old urban residential communities renovated. In 2022, there were 228 projects under construction in Qingdao’s top ten low-efficiency areas or parks, and 30,400 Mu of land was vacated, providing sufficient spaces for industrial development. Eight of the first 15 parks for emerging industries to be constructed as planned in 2023 will be in the top ten low-efficiency areas or parks. After reaching their design capacity, these parks will generate more than RMB420bln in industrial value-added.
