[Fuzhou Evening News]Located in the south section of Fuzhou Minjiang Riverside Park and being the first tangerine-themed area among Fuzhous parks, the Tangerine Culture Park covering an area of 3,800 square meters recently opened to the public, where the scene of ripening tangerines along Minjiang River in old films is restored.

Tangerine, also called the fortune orange , is the city fruit of Fuzhou. As long as 1960-1970s, tangerine trees were planted on the two sides of Minjiang River, which usually hung their brilliantly red fruit on branches in late autumn or early winter. At the entrance of the park, a tangerine-shaped arch heaves in sight. After passing through the arch, tourists can find conspicuous tangerine-shaped tables and chairs. The park features orange broadly, where adorable Fu Xiao Ju, a cartoon image, finds enormous favor with kids.

The Tangerine Culture Park, a multi-functional park that integrates cultural presentation, science popularization and education, and leisure and recreation, consists of a tangerine plantation, a maker center, a square nearby the entrance and a culture corridor (including three sections, namely folk culture, popularization of science, and introduction of activities). In the park, the culture corridor extends for about 80m, the maker center is built between four tall banya trees, and an additional 122 tangerine trees and 8,500 jasmine flowers have been planted so that Fuzhous city flower, tree and fruit can be collectively showcased to tourists.(Quan Yiyue)
