Farmers in many places across China are currently busy harvesting vegetables to ensure ample supply as winter has begun in the majority of the country.
In Linyi County, east China's Shandong Province, hundreds of hectares of lettuces are now ripe and awaiting harvest.
In Anping County, north China's Hebei Province, Xiaobaizui yam has achieved a bumper harvest this year thanks to the promotion of large-scale plantation, and the collaboration between leading companies and agricultural cooperatives.
In Anping, the cultivation area of Xiaobaizui yam has reached more than 1,333 hectares, generating profits ranging from 466 to 533 yuan per hectare.
"We have planted the Xiaobaozui yam for more than ten years. This year, our planting area is about four hectares, with each hectare yielding around 30,000 kilograms," said Zhang Yanwen, a farmer.
In Fuling District, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, about 35,666 hectares' vegetables are ready to be harvested as they gradually reach maturity.
Every day, more than 1,000 tons of vegetables are delivered to farmers' markets and supermarkets across the district, offering consumers a wide range of choices.
