On September 26, China’s first suspension type monorail train named “Optics Valley Photon” monorail train for commercial purpose, independently developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., started carrying passengers in the Wuhan Optics Valley sky train tourism route, marking the first commercial application of sky trains in China. As a new type of stereoscopic means of transportation, the train, dubbed an “aerial train”, runs in the air and looks surreal, whose tracks are propped up in the air by steel structures and body suspends below track beams.

    Located in the downtown of Wuhan Optics Valley, the Optics Valley sky train tourism route, the first in China, spans 10.5 km in the first phase. Train vehicles used on the route are developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang, with the highest speed of 60 km/h, initially two carriages in a group and a maximum capacity of more than 200 passengers.
