In the 2023 China Nighttime Economy Forum held in Sanya, Hainan Province, the China Tourism Academy unveiled the top 10 emerging Chinese cities in terms of nighttime economy, among which Qingdao was included.

In recent years, Qingdao has rolled out a number of policies to boost nighttime economy, support in all respects nighttime cultural tourism activities such as noctivagation on the sea, original music and performances, immersive performances, music festivals, night tour of scenic spots and cruise, spur concentrated development of cultural tourism consumption and pursue innovation in cultural tourism products. As a result, the invigorated consumption engine has immersed the city into more lively “hustles and bustles”, and nighttime economy has become an important driver of boosting consumption and tourism. The nighttime light show in Fushan Bay has become an internet-famous site; the Qingdao International Beer Festival, with booming scenes at night, has welcomed 6.17 million tourists this year; sensations on the internet such as the naked eye 3D screen and the light and shadow show has attracted a daily average of more than 100,000 tourists to the century-old urban area; the “noctivagation on the sea” routes have become festival blockbusters.
