QINGDAO -- The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area in Shandong Province’s Qingdao City, handled 723 China-Europe freight trains in the first three quarters, up 26.8 percent year on year, according to customs data.
Around 40 percent, or 293 of the trains, were returning to China with goods from overseas, according to statistics from the Customs of Qingdao City, where the Demonstration Area is located.
Since the launch of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area in 2018, it has handled 3,109 China-Europe freight trains, transporting around 2.14 million tons of goods.
