RIO DE JANEIRO, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped Atalanta midfielder Ederson was among four players added to Brazil's squad on Sunday for this year's Copa America in the United States.
Brazil manager Dorival Junior also called up Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rafael, Juventus defender Bremer and Porto winger Pepe, the Brazilian Football Confederation said in a statement.
The announcement came after the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) allowed teams to expand their Copa America squads to 26 players from an original limit of 23.
Rafael was included as a direct replacement for goalkeeper Ederson, who was cut from the squad after suffering a fractured right eye socket while playing for Manchester City against Tottenham on May 14.
Brazil will begin their Copa America campaign against Costa Rica in Los Angeles on June 24 and will also meet Paraguay and Colombia in the group stage.
The five-time World Cup winners will warm up for the tournament with friendlies against Mexico on June 8 and the United States four days later.
