BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Argentine fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo advanced to the last 16 of the Argentina Open with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Germany's Yannick Hanfmann on Tuesday.
World No. 34 Cerundolo pounded down four aces and landed 75% of his first serves in play to prevail in two hours and 33 minutes on the outdoor clay of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
The 24-year-old will meet Spaniard Jaume Munar on Thursday for a place in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event.
Others to progress to the round of 16 on Tuesday included Argentine pair Camilo Carabelli and Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena.
Carabelli beat Colombian Daniel Galan 7-6, 6-3, Etcheverry overcame Bolivia's Hugo Dellien 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 and Carballes Baena defeated compatriot Alberto Ramos-Vinolas 7-5, 6-4.
