HANGZHOU, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- 22-year-old Indonesian weightlifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, who took bronze in the men's 73kg at the Tokyo Olympic Games, clinched gold in the same event at Hangzhou Asiad on Tuesday, lifting 158kg in the snatch and 201kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 359kg and presenting a world record-breaking performance in the clean and jerk, one kilo better than his own previous best.

"It's an absorbing contest as I expected," said Abdullah, adding that he really enjoyed the process of the competition.

Follow Abdullah, 19-year-old Weeraphon Wichuma from Thailand, who won gold in the men's 73kg at the 2023 world weightlifting championships in Riyadh last month, collected silver, lifted 156kg in the snatch and 195kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 351kg. DPR Korean weightlifter Oh Kum Thaek came third with 344kg.

China's Wei Yinting, who won gold in the men's 73kg at the 2023 Asian weightlifting championships this May, lifted 161kg in the snatch and failed to lift 180kg for three attempts in the clean and jerk.

"I feel a little bit tired of series of competitions recently," said Wei, explaining that his knee injury affects him.
