Anlu City of central China's Hubei Province has been attracting tourists with its golden ginkgo sight and the rich cultural legacy left by Li Bai, a legendary romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Known as a poetic genius in China, Li Bai lived in the city for more than a decade.
Since Nov 18, local dancers have been performing traditional Chinese songs and dances inspired by the themes of Li Bai's poetry, fully displaying the city's unique Li Bai culture and breathtaking ginkgo view.
"Li Bai had a passion for swordsmanship since childhood, so we incorporate swordplay and dance in our performances. The combination of the two presents a unique experience," said Huang Xunlin, a dancer.
"Anlu boasts beautiful scenery and a rich cultural heritage, which helps us understand why Li Bai chose here and lived here for a decade," said Ye Zhiming, a viewer.
Li Bai resided in Anlu for more than ten years over a millennium ago. During that time, he traveled extensively and crafted many remarkable poems that continue to be celebrated today.
"Li Bai has become a cultural emblem for Anlu. What we are doing now is to leverage Li Bai's culture influence and combine it with the unique ginkgo resources, attracting numerous tourists who love his poetry and the beauty of ginkgo to Anlu for visits and sightseeing," said Guo Lingli, Director of Anlu Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.
The city has been promoting tourism through its rich cultural heritage in recent years, receiving 6.18 million tourists by the end of October and generating a revenue of 4.18 billion yuan (about 577 million U.S. dollars).
