During the 2024 Olympic Games, a fleet of pure electric sightseeing buses made by a Chinese enterprise have been gliding through the streets of Paris, not only providing eco-friendly and comfortable travel services for tourists from all over the world, but also helping drive the local green and sustainable transition efforts.
The 20 pure electric double-deckers made by the Anhui Ankai Automobile were put into operation by the local sightseeing tours operator Big Bus Tours when the Paris Olympics kicked off.
Their running routes cover many iconic attractions in Paris, including the Louvre Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Eiffel Tower, as well as the Games competition venues. Passengers can get off the bus at any stop to admire the grand and elegant cultural landmarks in the city or watch a thrilling match to feel the electric atmosphere of the world's largest sporting event.
"Tourists are very happy, first, because more and more tourists [have] the sustainability mindset, so they want to use more electric buses or hydrogen [buses] - but it's very little at the moment. So, [they choose] electric [ones]. They are very happy. They like the comforts. They like the look. The feedback is very good from the clients," said Sebastien Vincent, general manager of the Big Bus Tours.
The convertible double-decker is equipped with barrier-free facilities and includes a wheelchair area to provide convenient services for disabled passengers.
The safe, economic, comfortable and green features of the bus have made it highly competitive in the global market as intelligent and sustainable transportation is seeing soaring popularity among people.
"We are very like having a lot of Ankai buses. The Ankai bus for us is very good, because Ankai has a big experience in electric buses there in China, a bit less in Europe," said Vincent.
