More than 1,200 representatives from 97 countries and eight international organizations have gathered at the 8th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, which kicked off on Sunday in Dunhuang, a key hub on the ancient Silk Road in northwest China.
Taking place in Dunhuang City, northwest China's Gansu Province, the two-day event is themed "Strengthening Cultural Exchanges and Promoting Mutual Learning Among Civilizations".
The 2025 edition spotlights the latest achievements in Dunhuang culture studies, as well as arts, creative products, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritages.
Exhibitors from Belt and Road participating countries have showcased popular tourist attractions, customs and traditions in their countries, as well as their achievements made in intangible cultural heritage protection.
Among the exhibits, an intelligent mobile platform of cultural heritage digitalization developed by China's Dunhuang Academy has become a center of attention among visitors.
This platform is capable of collecting both two-dimensional and three-dimensional data, as well as conducting aerial photography. Its built-in data processing system enables one-stop rapid data transmission and high-performance computing, greatly saving manpower and material resources in the acquisition of cultural relic information.
"It enables on-site digital collection, processing, and display of cultural relics. This not only helps promote the sustainable development of cultural heritage conservation, but will also advance progress in the entire cultural relics digitalization industry," said Ma Jing, staff member of the cultural relics digitalization team at the Dunhuang Academy.
