A grand evening gala at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday wrapped up a day of commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Blending sights, sounds, and stories, the performances brought the history of the wartime era to life on stage.
The creators said they combined music, dance, and technology to connect with audiences on a deeper level.
"To bring the history alive, we focused on small details and the energy behind individual stories. We merged music, dance, and theater to create a performance that connects deeply with the audience," said chief director Zhou Liya.
"Most of the historical footage came from 16-millimeter film. To present it in today's HD and UHD formats, we spent months working on the restoration, and the results are among the best we've ever seen. We also crafted dramatic visual effects, carefully selecting imagery and perspectives to fully immerse viewers, making the live broadcast feel like a multi-layered stage experience," said visual designer Lyu Daqing.
Themed "Remember History, Honor the Martyrs, Cherish Peace, and Create the Future", and focusing on significant events from the Eastern battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War, the gala paid tribute to revolutionary martyrs who fought valiantly in the war.
