With 100 days to go, preparations for the 15th National Games opening ceremony are in full swing at Guangdong Olympic Stadium, with organizers promising a blend of tradition and innovation.
Scheduled for November 9, the 90-minute opening ceremony will feature Cantopop hits, Lingnan intangible cultural heritage arts, and martial arts, enhanced by digital and virtual reality effects. Over 5,000 performers are rehearsing for the multi-chapter show, backed by a 360-degree surround sound system and cutting-edge lighting.
"The cultures of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao share the same roots and spirit. Beyond great music, we must also create an exceptional stage. As Guangdong is a hub for performance equipment production, we will deploy the finest audio and lighting systems to craft the best possible experience. That's why we've specially designed a 360-degree immersive sound field -- so all 80,000 spectators can enjoy the pinnacle of live performance," said Huang Peiling, deputy general director of the opening ceremony.
According to officials, the preparations for the 15th National Games have adhered to the principles of "green, inclusive, open, and clean" event organization, along with the requirements of "simplicity, safety, and excellence."
Over 90 percent of competition venues have been upgraded from existing facilities, while all venues will be powered entirely by renewable energy -- significantly reducing operational costs.
China's 15th National Games is going to be held in 19 cities and regions include Guangzhou, Shenzhen, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the Macao SAR.
