A blaze of autumn color has swept across the scenic spots of Beijing's Yanqing District, with visitors streaming into flaming woods as the Chinese capital enters the best viewing period for colorful leaves ahead of Frost's Descent, the solar term marking the deepening of late autumn.
Crowds of sightseers have recently flocked to the flame-colored hills of the district's Badaling National Forest Park, where sections of the ancient Great Wall, one of the world's great wonders, wind through a sea of foliage, with red leaves set against dark green pines and cypresses.
Famous for its autumn scenery, the park offers plenty of walking trails that allow visitors to admire the views from different perspectives.
Other mountainous areas in the district have also entered the prime season for autumn scenery. Along Yudu Mountain and Xianglong Road, smoke trees, maples and torch trees are turning red and yellow in succession, and a drive along the road winding through the valleys feels like traveling through a flowing scroll of autumn colors.
The show of color is expected to draw even more visitors in the coming days, with foliage spots across Beijing forecast to see their heaviest traffic on the last two weekends of October.
"Today, I came to Yanqing to play and passed by this maple forest. I feel that the autumn atmosphere here is very strong, there are quite a lot of people, and the leaves are quite rich in color, which is quite suitable for taking pictures," said a tourist surnamed Li.
