Freight train services connecting Europe with Yiwu, a key export hub in east China's Zhejiang Province, have transported over 200,000 twenty-foot-equivalent unit (TEU) containers of cargo this year as of Oct 7, according to customs data.
The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe (Yixin'ou) freight route links Yiwu with the European commodity center of Madrid by way of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Yixin'ou, as a major part of the China-Europe freight train service, has launched 27 stable routes, extending its reach to over 160 cities in more than 50 countries and regions across Europe and Asia.
As a flagship project and a landmark brand of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe freight train service, also referred to as the "steel camel caravans", has established a comprehensive logistics network across Eurasia.
