The “Hushan”ro-ro ship laden with Chinese-made vehicles recently departed the Fuzhou Jiangyin Port Area for overseas destinations. This marks that the exports of vehicles through Jiangyin terminal of Fuzhou Port in the first four months of 2026 surpassed the 20,000 units mark, and outnumbered the total exports throughout last year.
The Fuzhou Jiangyin Port Area is an important hub for exports of vehicles in China’s southeast coastal area, equipped with storage yards dedicated to vehicles as big as nearly 500,000 square meters. An average of 210 units of vehicles can be loaded and unloaded per hour. A maximum of 277 units of vehicles can be handled in a hour. The speed far outpaces China’s average level.
The port area has so far created a regular ro-ro shipping network. A monthly average of four to five ro-ro ships depart the port area to ensure that large numbers of vehicles can be exported via China’s southeast coastal area to their core overseas markets. Riding the wave of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, ratification of the RCEP agreement and deepening cooperation between BRICS countries, Fujian Province in recent years fared tremendously well in emerging markets in terms of exports of vehicles, and saw marked growth in the Middle East and Africa. According to statistics from Fuzhou Customs, Fujian Province’s exports of vehicles in the first quarter of 2026 surged 26.1% year on year to RMB 4.45 bln.
