China's railway fixed asset investment totaled 901.5 billion yuan (about 128.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, marking a six percent year-on-year increase, the country's national railway operator said on Sunday.
In 2025, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. began the construction of eight new railway projects, accelerated the construction of several major projects, and started operation of 25 rail projects, putting into operation 3,109 km of new rail lines in the year, including 2,862 km of high-speed rail.
By the end of 2025, China's nationwide operating railway mileage had increased to 165,000 km, with high-speed railway mileage surpassing 50,000 km.
The China Railway said it will advance the construction of key national projects with high quality, and put over 2,000 kilometers of new rail lines into operation in 2026.
