Preparations for the opening of scenic spots including ski resorts in northeast China's Helongjiang and Jilin provinces are in full swing as they look to embrace the influx of tourists in the upcoming peak season this winter.
Harbin City, the provincial capital of Heilongjiang, started on Sunday to gear up for its opening of the 27th Harbin Ice and Snow World, with workers unsealing the ice stored in advance for the resort.
The 200,000 cubic meters of ice, carefully selected and preserved, will be used to make ice sculptures for the event.
Meanwhile, ski resorts across the province are also preparing for the winter peak season at full steam. At Yabuli Ski Resort in Harbin, dozens of snowmakers are operating along the slopes. Beyond operating the equipment, technicians also need to monitor weather conditions and snow quality to ensure that the snow is in a good shape for skiing.
At the Mao'er Mountain Ski Resort in Shangzhi City, staff members conducted cableway rescue drills and upgraded equipment including cable cars and snow groomers.
In Beiji Village or "North Pole Village" of Mohe, China's northernmost city, the ski resorts have entered the final stretch before opening, with snowmakers and snow groomers operating around the clock.
Preparations at major ski resorts across Jilin Province have come to a close. To enhance the skiing experience, they have launched trial runs and expanded their terrain offerings.
From Saturday to Sunday, Beidahu Ski Resort hosted a trial skiing event, attracting over 300 enthusiasts to get an early taste of powder snow.
"I think Beidahu has done a good job so that we can ski in late October this year. The snow quality here is excellent, too," said Zhang Xing, a ski enthusiast.
"For instance, we'll continue offering the popular free skiing for college students and half-price discounts for residents in the three northeastern Chinese provinces. Additionally, this year we've introduced shuttle buses from the Longjia Airport to the resort with increased daily frequencies, enabling visitors to reach the resort faster," said Yan Shuai, a Beidahu Ski Resort staffer.
