China sees surge in summer travel since July 1 发布日期:2024/8/12 来源:International Daily 打印

China has seen a steady growth in passenger trips since July 1, the start of the summer travel rush.

Data from the country’s Ministry of Transport show that the number of daily trips has reached 170 million since the start of the summer travel rush, marking a 2.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.
To manage the high passenger flow during the summer season, from June 1 to August 31, the Ministry of Transport has optimized and refined its services to make travel more convenient.
A new batch of high-speed railway routes has been put into operation to meet passengers' travel needs.
The railway line between Lanzhou and Wuwei in northwest China's Gansu Province opened before the summer travel rush. Since then, the number of railway trips in Wuwei has increased by nearly 60 percent compared to the previous year.
"The opening of new high-speed railway routes, especially those passing through key tourist attractions, has brought new development opportunities for local tourism, with more 'high-speed rail plus tourism' modes being created," said Zhu Jianjun, a researcher at China Academy of Railway Sciences Corporation Limited.
The railway department even launched special tourist trains showcasing local customs.
"We make the most of the tourism advantages of tourist trains, which integrate transportation, accommodation, and entertainment, and carefully design the itineraries to ensure passenger safety," said Han Guoqing, Shenyang Railway Cultural Travel Group's Changchun Branch manager.
During this year's summer travel rush, China's civil aviation is expected to carry over 133 million passengers, with a daily average of 2.15 million.
As more countries introduce visa-free policies for Chinese tourists, overseas tourism is also booming this summer.
The number of international passenger flights has recovered to nearly 80 percent of what it was in 2019.
