Thousands of precious stone and jewelry industry insiders from around the world have gathered in Geneva for the eighth edition of GemGeneve, one of the biggest gem fairs in the world, featuring brilliant pieces on show and top designers from China.
The idea of a lotus emerging from the water in the warm summer sun inspired this piece, called "Red Lotus under the Sun," crafted by renowned Chinese jewelry designer Diana Zhang.
The artist spent three years creating the bracelet, carefully selecting hundreds of the finest rubies and diamonds that make up the piece. Born in Jilin Province in China, Zhang is one of the most influential figures and designers on the Asian jewelry scene.
"I love the best natural gemstones which, like this piece, is all Burma, not heated, rubies. I have 100 pieces, I collected for one year all around, some in the new stones, some in the old pieces. I choose the best clarity and pigeon blood," she said.
Another distinctive designer from China, Aso Leon, has brought along never-seen-before pieces inspired by nature. Known as the "Prince of Titanium," Aso has made the metal his signature material since 2005.
"I think the name Prince of Titanium was given to me by the press and members of the public. I'm very grateful for this support and love from the people. Sometimes it can be a bit too much, but I like the name," Ash said.
Two other renowned artists from China are also showcasing their pieces here.
Xiao Xintong, known as A-win Siu, draws inspiration from childhood and creates candy brooches decorated with diamonds and precious stones, designed to bring happiness to the wearer.
Hong Kong artist, Ho Siu Chong, creates beautiful swan brooches and rings that are perfectly proportioned and can be transformed into a different shape by the wearer.
The Chinese artists' presence in Geneva raises their profile, placing them squarely in the international spotlight for top-tier jewelry craftsmanship.
