About 75,000 merchants at the International Trade Market of Yiwu City, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Wednesday welcomed their first business day in the Year of the Dragon.
With an abundant variety of commodities, convenient and fast logistics, and a good business environment, Yiwu is often referred to as "the world's supermarket".
On the first day of reopening, the market received 228,000 customers.
In 2023, the total value of Yiwu's foreign trade reached 566.05 billion yuan (about 78.7 billion U.S. dollars), up 18.2 percent year on year, with exports reaching 500.57 billion yuan (about 69.5 billion U.S. dollars), a year-on-year increase of 16.0 percent.
At present, Yiwu has trade relations with more than 233 countries and regions around the world. The city sees more than 560,000 overseas merchant trips every year, with over 15,000 overseas merchants from more than 100 countries and regions residing in Yiwu.
