The Belt and Road international cooperation in digital economy sector has grown rapidly and produced fruitful outcomes, said Liu Liehong, chief of the Chinese national data bureau on Wednesday.
Liu made the remarks following the High-level Forum on Digital Economy which is part of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) held in Beijing from Tuesday to Wednesday.
During the forum, China and countries including Myanmar, Gambia and Cambodia jointly released the Beijing Initiative on the Belt and Road International Digital Economy Cooperation, which focuses on economy, industries and the people and proposes international cooperation on digital economy in 20 areas.
The initiative advocates strengthening digital connectivity, facilitating the transition of industrial digitalization and supporting digital innovation and entrepreneurship, among others, so as to enable Belt and Road partner countries to deepen digital economy cooperation to share in the benefits.
"The release of this initiative helps build a new platform for international exchanges and cooperation in digital economy sector, strongly boosting mutual trust and mutual benefit and better advancing development for win-win results," said Liu.
China has signed a large number of MoUs with other Belt and Road countries to deepen cooperation in the digital economy sector. During the forum, 12 groups of Chinese and foreign enterprises exchanged outcomes text on pragmatic cooperation.
"Areas of cooperation include not only infrastructure construction involving information communication and cloud computing, but also application projects of digital technologies in various fields such as medical care, power and railways," said Liu.
Liu said that promoting integrated development will be one of the priorities of Belt and Road international cooperation on digital economy.
"We will strive to deepen cooperation in digital technology innovation, digital transformation and digital city development, and coordinate and promote the transition of industrial digitalization in the aspects of agriculture, manufacturing and service, so as to enable more countries to realize industrial upgrading and unleash the power of growth dynamics through the development of digital economy," said Liu.
