Boasting a total investment of more than RMB4.3bln and a total construction area of 450,000 square meters and with the main structure of 63 of 65 buildings completed, the northern China environmental protection industry base project, located in the Qingdao Demonstration Area for Airport Economy, is going ahead with full steam, where an environmental protection industry cluster covering environmental protection science and technology, education, consultation and industrial construction in northern China will be built.

Launched and planned by the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the northern China environmental protection industry base project is designed to conduct innovative, fundamental and significant environmental protection researches and underpin social and economic development and decision making in environmental protection with strategic and forward-looking science and technology. In addition to the “four centers and one lab” the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment plans to build in the base through agreement signing, namely the environment analysis and testing technology center, the environmental certification center, the Qingdao technological cooperation center of Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the environmental protection industrial finance center and the environmental protection lab, the base is talking with the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange on a SCO carbon administration service platform, and consulting with the China Classification Society on a maritime environmental protection sci-tech innovation platform.   (Xi Fuchun)
