Built by Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd, the “MASAI MARA” vessel, a new generation of wide-bodied and handy-size container vessels, was handed over on the afternoon of May 23. This is the first vessel Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd. built for the 5900TEU vessels order of the CMB Company from Belgium, as well as the container vessel with the largest container capacity ever built in Shandong province.
With a length of 240m and a molded breadth of 42.8m, the “MASAI MARA” vessel can hold a maximum of 6,014 containers and as many as 1,150 refrigerated containers, is equipped with the ammonia and diesel dual drive system, features applicability for extensive shipping routes, remarkable loading capacity, excellent level of automation, competitive storage of refrigerated containers, energy efficiency and environmentally friendly emission, and excels in comprehensive performance and reliability among its peers.
As the global shipping industry continues to be on the mend, shipbuilding companies in Qingdao have received a stream of orders. The Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd. lately entered into a contract on building 4+4 82000DWT bulk carriers with Seatankers Group, an internationally prestigious shipowner, another international shipbuilding order following the building of a 206,000 tons bulk carrier and a 5900TEU container vessel. Orders received by Qingdao Shipyard Co., Ltd. by far will be scheduled to be fulfilled by the second half of 2025, ranging from container vessels, bulk carrier to maritime equipment, etc. (Wang Tao)
