Austrian agricultural machinery manufacturer Pottinger has opened a new facility in the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) in Qingdao, Shandong province, as it expands its presence in the Chinese market.

Located in the SCO Enterprise Innovation Industrial Park, the facility will showcase and sell machinery for soil cultivation, seeding, and grassland management, broadening the company's product offerings in China.

Pottinger entered the Chinese market in 2016, establishing its wholly owned subsidiary, Pottinger Agricultural Technology (Qingdao) Co Ltd, in Qingdao.

The company operates five specialized production facilities worldwide, with a product portfolio spanning grassland harvesting, soil cultivation, seeding, crop management, and digital agriculture.

Over the past decade, Pottinger has focused on adapting European agricultural machinery technologies to the practical needs of Chinese farmers.

Manfred Holler, the company's overseas sales director, said the new facility would enable Pottinger to better understand the Chinese market, listen to customer feedback, and develop equipment more closely aligned with local needs.

He emphasized that the expansion reflects Pottinger's commitment to the Chinese market, which will remain central to its global strategy.
