Qingdao Airlines will resume direct flights between Qingdao and Jeju Island, South Korea, on Oct 27, offering travelers another convenient option for short-haul international trips.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays aboard Airbus A320s, with a flight time of approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Introductory one-way fares will start at around 600 yuan ($84), excluding taxes.

Known for its volcanic landscapes, scenic coastline, and distinctive cuisine, Jeju is a popular destination for island getaways. Ordinary passport holders from China who meet the relevant requirements can visit the island visa-free.

The resumption comes amid growing passenger traffic between Qingdao and South Korea. From January to September, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport handled 10,200 passenger flights on South Korean routes, carrying 1.58 million travelers, up 4 percent and 14 percent year-on-year, respectively. The average passenger load factor reached 86 percent.

With Jeju's return, the airport's South Korean network will cover five destinations: Seoul, Busan, Jeju, Cheongju, and Daegu.

To enhance the transit experience, Qingdao airport also offers eligible international transfer passengers complimentary accommodation, sightseeing opportunities, and access to local attractions.

The restored service is expected to strengthen air connectivity and facilitate tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between Qingdao and South Korea.
