China's first marine AI resource platform was launched in Qingdao, Shandong province, on Sept 17.
Unveiled during a parallel session of the 2026 Global Ocean Development Forum held in the city, the platform, known in Chinese as the "Marine Token Factory", integrates data, computing capacity and AI models.
Its specialized database contains more than 130 categories of marine data, ranging from offshore operation standards to marine environmental information.
The platform also has access to computing resources with a total capacity of more than 800P, provided by China Mobile's computing center in Qingdao. It provides access to more than 20 marine-specific large language models, along with over 30 general-purpose AI models.
Marine-sector companies and institutions can access the platform's resources on demand, with charges based on actual usage, avoiding the need to build separate systems for data usage, computing and AI models.
Yan Chengjie, deputy general manager of China Mobile Communications Group Shandong Co Ltd, said the platform can help reduce the cost and time required to build such systems.
According to the company, the platform is expected to support applications in fields including deep-sea oil and gas exploration.
