The 2026 Shandong Marine Development Achievements Exhibition opened in Qingdao West Coast New Area on Sept 16, highlighting the province's advances in marine industries, technology and equipment over the past five years.
Held alongside the 2026 Global Ocean Development Forum, the exhibition brings together more than 100 exhibits in over 50 groups, spanning offshore engineering, marine biomedicine, marine chemicals and deep-sea aquaculture.
Among the highlights are models of some of China's major marine engineering projects, including the Shenhai-1 deepwater semi-submersible production and storage platform, the Guoxin 1-2-1 smart aquaculture vessel and the Haikui-1 cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading facility.
Also on display are the Lankun, a multipurpose offshore engineering vessel with a lifting capacity of 5,000 metric tons, and Shenlan-2, a fully submersible deep-sea aquaculture cage with a farming volume of 90,000 cubic meters.
Qingdao West Coast New Area is prominently represented through equipment and research developed by local companies and universities. In 2025, its gross ocean product reached 225.58 billion yuan ($31.7 billion), accounting for 12 percent of Shandong's total.
The exhibition also features deep-sea exploration systems, marine biotechnology products and digital platforms for monitoring the marine economy, offering a broad look at Shandong's marine development and emerging priorities for the next five years.
