Qingdao in August: A city awash with lotus blossoms 2026/8/20 source: Print

August in Qingdao is a season of lotus flowers. All across the city, ponds and lakes are transformed into tranquil aquatic gardens.

At Zhongshan Park's Xiaoxihu Lake, layers of lush green leaves stretch across the water, while delicate pink and white lotus blossoms rise gracefully above them, swaying gently in the summer breeze. Visitors wander along the lakeside, capturing photos or simply leaning on the railings to enjoy the serene scene.

The beauty of the lotus is not confined to one location. In Jimo's Kaolao Village, a clear lake mirrors the thousand layers of emerald lotus leaves, with a refreshing fragrance carried by the breeze. The lotus pond at Licun River Park is equally enchanting, with leaves reaching out to the sky and tender pink flowers peeking out from among them. Near the airport, a newly popular lotus pond shimmers under the sunlight, offering a perfect photo opportunity.

The city's botanical garden and Mohe Park also boast stunning lotus displays, along with Guoxue Park, Sanlihe Park, Shuangzhu Park, and Shaohai Scenic Area.

For the best viewing experience, visit between 6 am and 8 am, when the light is soft and the fragrance of the flowers is at its peak.
