Thanks to systematic ecological restoration, the Zhangcun River in Qingdao has seen continuous improvement in water quality in recent years. Egrets, coots, mallards, and other waterbirds now thrive here, nesting and foraging along the revitalized waterway.

The four-kilometer restored section — stretching from Qingdao–Yinchuan Expressway in the west to Songling Road in the east — has become both a biodiversity hotspot and a popular new retreat for local residents. Visitors stroll along the banks, enjoying the sight of birds gliding over clear waters and the peaceful natural scenery.

What was once a neglected river is now a vibrant ecosystem and a beloved community destination, where nature and city life unite in harmony.
